And not a true diva on the list. This is pathetic. However, there is another announcement that Cyndi Lauper (diva-in-training), Sheryl Crow (diva-in-training) and Melissa Etheridge (lesbian so can't be a diva) are also performing. Paula Abdul (crazy diva-in-training) will be hosting.
The shows that had the likes of Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin and those pioneers of music who have been an inspiration for practically a lifetime are true divas. The rest of the pseudo-divas are just publicity Vh1 is trying to sign to get people to watch the show.
Well, let's see how this plays out (no pun intended!).
Regards!

and no disrespect meant.....BUT HOW can Miley Cyrus, even come close to being a Diva????....she is a frikken kids for goodness sakes............Where are the true Divas???
1. Aretha
2. Diana
3. Tina
4. Reba
5. Whitney
6. Patti
and the rest????
Maybe we need to let them know what we consider a DIVA to be........I'll be willing to bet that for every single time that a queen has performed a Miley or Jordan song, that Tina or Diana has been performed 10,000 times......
Just my thoughts.....have a blessed day all....

It's a travesty that Toni Braxton is presenting and NOT one of the Diva's.
But the show is too raise money for a good cause. All the old school divas have already been on the show. Some more than once. They need ratings so they can make money. These kids will bring in the ratings.

I don't agree that these women are divas. The only one I can kinda get is JHUD. Mariah is the greatest DIVA of all time! lol.

Lies...
Sheryl Crow and Melissa Ethridge will also be presenting.
Toni, Sheryl and Melissa...there's three ACTUAL Diva's that should be featured.

Miss Khori, you know of my obsession with Mariah. If I could go to anyone's concert(dead or alive) it would be Mariah's. Ever since I was a little girl I have wanted to be Mariah. lol. I can remember someone asking me what I wanted to be when I grow up when I was in early grade school and I answered "Mariah Carey"

I Think they are trying to reach a younger Audience that is why they have the younger singers of today as DIVA'S

That show was a mess.
They had the REAL Divas as "special guests" Melissa, Sheryl, Cyndi, Toni, and LIZA, not THATS a DIVA's show. This was a concert for the kids. Leona has 3 songs and no stage presence but SHE is a DIVA? Puhleese. She has a great voice when she is in control of it. Last night she was all over the place.
The Duets, to me, were the highlight. The only bad one was the one with Miley. Kelly and Melissa Killed it. India and Adelle(who I LOVE) were very good, and Jennifer and Stevie made me cry. Stevie wonder sang CIRCLES around Ms Hudson.
I think this show is for the kids, and ratings. Thats fine, I'm old, I know. Music is changing. However, the term DIVA should always be the same. You have to earn that. You just can't have a platinum selling album and all of a sudden be a Diva. Maybe they should have just called it a "Concert to Save the Music" or something to that effect. Because DIVA's they are not.

Khori...i agree with you SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much!!!!
Leona has a very PRETTY voice...i have heard her a few times LIVE and she never seems to be able to realize her limitations and always seems to push too much and too far...she seems to have a quiet storm voice and should realize it or grease up the vocals cause last night was crazy...i have found waldo quicker than she found some of her notes...
Miley Cyrus (who i ACTUALLY think has a pretty good voice) was out of her league in many ways with sheryl crow...and is mis. thing on hormones...she seems to have grown up and shed the good girl image overnight...
I am still not gonna buy the whole "ratings" a "target audience" thing...If you honor a DIVA of true calliber with some TRUE singers and even people of great vocal skill but younger (kelly clarkson) then you will have a show that people will watch...
Can you imagine what it would have been like for them to have a Diva Tribute Show to Dolly Parton...and the highlight of the show could have been WHitney houston coming out and singing "I Will Always Love You"...Country is one of the strongest and longest running pure genres in this country...people will watch country...and there are plenty of people who have been influenced by Dolly if not country...
Or what about honoring the great legend of Annie Lennox, or Pat Benatar, or Sade...there are so many other people that would QUALIFY as a diva or even a "diva in training" that this show could have been better and still brought in the audiences...
En Vogue, Le Ann Rimes, Gwen Stefani, Queen Latifah, and Gretchen Wilson are all chillin ...they could have been called on...what is going on with Amy Winehouse lately...is she clean?...they could have brought her out...any of the extras from deestiny's child could have been called...even solange...
there's nothign wrong with trying to get ratings...you need those to keep the show going...but to sell out and put 5non divas and one diva in training on stage and call them all divas is a musical tragedy...
RIP-DIVA...your true meaning has died
